Lanthanein is a Doom Death/Gothic Metal project that “lay hidden” in Córdoba, Argentina, and that came to light in early 2015 with their first EP Nocturnálgica. Formed by the soprano Marilí Portorrico and ANXIIIU.X, inspired by the drama of classical music and the sound of the 90`s. A truly stellar death/doom album with heavy doses of black metal. Tracks like Isolation, Child of Light, and Broken Hymns deliver the sorrowful and icy tone of this album, elevated by the stirring cello compositions of Raphael Weinroth-Browne. The album delivers a deeply satisfying crescendo in Becoming Intangible before stirring the soul once again with Epilogue.

The debut release from one of the better clandestine atmospheric black metal projects around. The performance and sound on ‘Aftermath’ is not as polished or dynamic as his future releases, however it is still a solid presentation. 7/10

I was always intrigued by this group's choice of album covers, it isn't every day that you see high quality space photos in this genre despite the rise of "cosmic" black metal. But the music blew me away, this sounds like Austere took the atmospheric spacey route. (I will assume it's a coincidence that both bands are Australian)
